4-Sub units 4101-4110 |
£175 |
|
Designed before
the war, and introduced between 1941 and 1945, these were the first new
electric units designed under Bulleid. They worked across all three
divisions of the suburban network, lasting until 1972.
This
comprehensive, well-detailed kit includes formed aluminium body shells
and trailer coach floors, formed etched brass motor coach floors and
bogie centres, whitemetal ends, drivers cabs, bogie sides and fittings,
together with etched rainstrips, footboards, inner couplings, and door
fittings. Detailed whitemetal castings are included for all the major
underfloor components, cast pins locating accurately in the etched
floors. Jigs are included for scribing door outlines, and for drilling /
marking the body shells for all door fittings. Truss-rods are milled
brass angle, pre cut and formed to the correct angle. Self-adhesive
templates are provided to locate all the roof fittings, while a set of
scale drawings show the vehicles as completed. Brass wire and split pins
are included for the roof-mounted conduits. Glazing material is also
included, while a printed interior kit is available separately. Requires
only one black beetle (35mm wheelbase) motor bogie, 14mm wheels,
pinpoint bearings, scale couplings for the outer ends of the unit, plus
paint, transfers, adhesives, and the usual hand tools
This kit received an
excellent review from Tim Shackleton in Model Railway Journal 121 (Sept
2000) – recommended reading for any of our potential customers.
