This kit is our first
departmental unit. The prototype was one of several converted in the mid-1970s
from class 405 (4-Sub) motor coaches, on to which were grafted EPB-type cabs,
motor generators, EP brake gear, new control jumpers, waist level brake pipes,
and a gangway between the vehicles. Additional pick-up shoes were added, doors
and windows blanked off, and the interior gutted to make room for the necessary
tanks etc. These units are still in use, though their life is expected to be
coming to an end shortly
Our kit features pre-formed
1-piece etched brass body shells, underframes, bogie centres, whitemetal ends,
underframe fittings, bogie sides and roof vents, together with etched door
furniture, rainstrips, steps, footboards, and drivers’ side window frames.
